A better path to Wellness, Purpose and Abundance

Rejuvenate Your Skin
May 10, 2011

As summer approaches there is a lot of talk about detoxifying your body for weight loss, but our skin is often overlooked. However, nothing can substitute for a fresh, radiant complexion! Take the weekend to treat your outer layer to some much-needed detox and pampering that will treat your insides, too. Here is an easy regimen I have tried and love:
Day 1

Evening

Clear your clutter. Straighten up, do a load of laundry, and clear the coffee table or counter. This will get you in the right place for inner cleansing.

Stock your fridge. Prepare to fill your body with healthy foods. Antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables help repair and prevent damage to your skin. Avoid all alcohol, tobacco, and refined or processed foods.

Purge your products. Give your skin time to rebalance by putting away everything except your cleanser, day lotion, and night cream. (Your ART® Skin Care System will more than suffice!)
Day 2

Morning

Drink warm tea. Look for blends that include nettle, ginger, burdock, dandelion, or sarsaparilla root. These herbs and flowers are known to calm inflammation and improve liver and kidney function. These teas also help eliminate puffiness around the eyes and decongest your skin.
Afternoon

Give yourself a massage. Encourage elimination of waste by manually moving lymph through the lymphatic system. Massage your neck, armpits, stomach, and behind the knees. These areas contain lots of lymph nodes.
Evening

Fake a facial at home. Pour hot water into a small bowl and add a few drops of citrus essential oil. Soak a hand towel in the water, then wring it out and drape it over your neck. Lie down for 10 minutes and let the steam open your pores, prepping your skin for the detoxifying mask that follows. Look for masks made with clay, which absorbs excess oil and pulls toxins and impurities out while adding beneficial minerals.
Day 3

Morning

Scrub your body. Exfoliate with a body scrub that removes dulling skin cells, boosts circulation, and pumps toxins from the body, such as Young Living’s Satin Facial Scrub™ Mint. You can also make a great body scrub at home with just the following:

    2 cups coffee grounds
    1/2 cup sea salt
2/3 tablespoon massage oil. (You can create your own using massage oil using V-6™Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex and a few drops of your favorite essential oil.)

Afternoon

Sweat it out. A brisk walk, jumping rope, or yoga helps eliminate toxins from your body. The deep breathing of yoga also stimulates the lymphatic system and brings cleansing oxygen to the body. Sun salutations in particular will nurture as well as detoxify; try those or twisting poses to activate your digestive system.
Evening

Apply a mask. Spread a few tablespoons of raw honey over your face. Next, apply cucumber slices on top of the honey and then lie down. Cover your face with a warm, damp washcloth to allow honey, a natural humectant, to seal in moisture. Honey’s anti-inflammatory properties also help reduce irritation and redness. Cucumbers, which act as diuretics, will further flush out excess fluid and relieve any puffiness. Leave on for 15–20 minutes and rinse gently.

This three-day skin vacation will leave you and your skin refreshed and revived. Let me know how it works for you!
