“We Share Because We Care”

“We Share Because We Care”

A Swiss native whose study of biochemistry started her
lifelong pursuit of increased health and understanding, Anna-Maya Powell
is licensed in hydrotherapy and in the Heartmath System and is trained
in aromatherapy, reflexology, and bio-kinesiology. This lifelong
wellness enthusiast came to Young Living in 1989 as an Independent
Distributor and as one of the company’s corporate trainers in 1998, when
she traveled the US and Canada providing thousands of people with the
benefits of Young Living Essential Oils. And though Anna-Maya has always
been guided by her entrepreneurial spirit, it has only been recently
that she has started focusing on the business aspects of Young Living.
Now, the company’s newest Platinum, Anna-Maya has her sights set on
reaching Crown Diamond—and is well on her way to accomplishing her goal
and continuing to help countless others along the way.

Dream Becomes Reality

Before
being introduced to Young Living in 1989 by Eldon Knittle, Anna-Maya
had a dream where a man handed her a key. That evening she accompanied
Eldon to a presentation by Young Living Founder and President, Gary
Young. Anna-Maya says, “When Gary started to talk about how to formulate
like nature does and talked about the life force and power of essential
oils I knew I had found the key I had been given in my dream. I walked
out of there with the knowledge I had been seeking.” And about her
decision to join Young Living Anna-Maya adds, “It was Gary’s example and
amazing drive that attracted me.”

Growing Business

Initially,
Anna-Maya’s focus was on her personal health, not building her own
business. But once she started using Young Living essential oils she
says, “I felt different and looked different. I was 36 and my skin
cleared and I became vibrant and my business just started.” Anna-Maya
says that people wanted to know what she was using and when she told
them about Young Living they wanted to join too—and for many years she
continued to build her business with the people she attracted. It wasn’t
until three or four years ago that Anna-Maya says she decided to build
her business smarter and has been amazed at how her business has
grown.

Building Smarter

Anna-Maya says that she when
she changed her method of teaching to a model of listening and asking
questions to understand people’s needs, she saw incredible results.
“Instead of people being intimidated by thinking they had to know
everything,” she says, “People now say ‘I can do that.’ It’s a big
difference.”

From the start, Anna-Maya explains that Young
Living is the world leader in essential oils and asks people if they
think that the highest quality natural substances could make a
difference in their lives. Then, Anna-Maya says, she listens, stays
focused on answering questions with short answers addressing people’s
needs, and finishes with a question. This way, she explains, you prove
to people that they are the most important thing and create a feeling
that you are a friend who has their well-being in mind.

Helping Others Grow

As a general rule Anna-Maya asks new distributors to write down an
emotionally charged dream or need. She has people create their own
personal strategy and create tasks that can be completed within one or
two weeks. She also advised them to gain and write down personal
experiences that others can relate to. “If you tell a story about
overcoming a big sickness, it may sound unbelievable and if the person
doesn’t have that sickness, the person might say they don’t need Young
Living,” she says, “But low energy, wrinkles, emotional overcoming—these
are the kind of things everyone can identify with.”

Anna-Maya is
also quick to acknowledge that signing up new distributors is only the
first step. She says that following up properly with monthly product
information through a newsletter or other communication method is
imperative. Anna-Maya’s organization has an online newsletter and she
also sends part of her organization a physical mailer as well. “The
volume goes up noticeably a few days after sending newsletters,” she
adds.

Anna-Maya Today

Anna-Maya starts each new day by
getting inspired through listening to a positive tape, writing, reading,
and using a favorite essential oil. Then, if she’s not traveling, she
spends 30 to 40 hours a week supporting her existing teams and working
on new prospects. “Since most all of my working members are out of town,
I am on the phone coaching or calling to tell them that we appreciate
them or I am on the computer,” she says.

Grateful for Nancy and
Eldon Knittle—her supportive upline—and her “most amazing” downline,
Anna-Maya knows that Young Living is here to stay. “Young Living is so
unique,” she says, “You can live your passion no matter what.”

Anna-Maya
is especially appreciative of the hard work of Gary and Mary Young and
also gives special thanks to her first husband, Jorn Eisvanj, who never
let her give up, and her current husband, Jim Powell, who is a keen
business partner.

Anna-Maya Recommends

Ningxia Red®,
Power Meal™, Balance Complete™, True Source™, and Super Cal™ are
products Anna-Maya uses daily. Other products, such as Multigreens™,
K&B™, and Rehemogen™ she takes in cycles as needed. When traveling,
Anna-Maya says she loves Exodus™ and Thyromin™ for immune protection and
energy boosts. Anna-Maya also starts each day inhaling Magnify Your
Purpose™ essential oil blend and has many other favorites including

Everyday Nutrition and Essential Oil Supplements

Hectic schedules and increasing personal demands make eating a well-balanced diet seem impossible. The average person consumes only a fraction of the recommended nine daily servings of fruits and vegetables, and as a result needs nutrient-dense vitamins and minerals to supplement his or her diet. In fact, current research indicates that more than 64 percent of American adults are either obese or overweight—a 14 percent increase from 20 years ago.1
Poor nutrition can lead to a variety of health concerns like fatigue, a compromised immune system, and poor digestion. Young Living makes it easy to combat these issues and incorporate better eating habits into your busy schedule. From the energizing, replenishing, and fortifying benefits of NingXia Red® to a wide array whole food-sourced multivitamins and great-tasting, essential oil-infused meal replacements, Young Living has unique, effective solutions!
Improved Wellness with Essential Oil Supplements
Infusing nutritional supplements with the added benefit of essential oils enables nature's living energy to provide internal bodily support. Products like Longevity™ and Omega Blue™ contribute to overall wellness by balancing dietary insufficiencies and infusing the body with essential oils.
Multivitamins for Core Nutrition
The average person consumes only a fraction of required daily nutrients, so it is important to take vitamins and minerals to supplement your diet. Enhancing your diet with a whole food-sourced multi is an excellent way to ensure optimal wellness, regardless of age or individual nutritional requirements. The benefits of Young Living's whole food-sourced multivitamins far surpass those offered by synthetic supplements.
Enzymes and Minerals for Core Nutrition
The modern diet is comprised primarily of convenient, pre-packaged meals. These nutrient-deficient choices are full of synthetic flavor enhancers and lack the important dietary minerals our bodies require. Young Living offers a variety of detoxifying enzymes and mineral supplements to help rid the body of unnecessary and potentially damaging substances.
Young Living's Most Popular Product Recommendations for Everyday Nutrition

NingXia Red: A superfood-sourced, essential oil-infused supplement, plus the vitamins and antioxidants your body requires.

True Source™: The Young Living multivitamin with the widest array of whole food-sourced nutrients.

French Lavender: In Great Distress

March 11, 2011

Sunset at the Mona, Utah, lavender farm
What would I do if I couldn’t get pure essential oils? How do I know if the essential oils I am buying are pure? How can I know the origin and the species of the oil I am buying? Does this mean that I need to question whether all the oils I may be buying that I am told are pure are actually pure? Because the salesperson and the promotional literature say so, does that make it so?
These are the questions that every person representing, selling, buying, or using essential oils should be asking. If you buy an oil from a broker who tells you it is pure, does it guarantee that it is? Absolutely not! Many essential oils come from countries far away from us, and visiting the distilleries could be very difficult.
An essential oil such as frankincense is one where people can easily be deceived. Even if you were to go to Oman and buy directly from the market in Salalah, the land of frankincense, could you be guaranteed that you are buying pure Boswellia sacra frankincense? Absolutely not!
But, you could more easily travel to France to see fields of lavender being harvested and distilled, or could you? That certainly was possible in years past, and tens of thousands of visitors have done just that. But what is happening today in France? Lavender, one of the world’s most favored essential oils, is currently in great distress. Many difficult circumstances surround this beautiful oil, and if you go to France today and buy directly from a producer, does this guarantee that you are buying 100 percent pure Lavandula angustifolia—pure lavender essential oil? Absolutely not!

Emotional Release with PanAway and OrthoEase

March 2, 2011
Young Living PanAway Essential Oil BlendStress is a normal part of life, but left unchecked, it may create undesirable effects in the body, mind, and spirit. Stress may lead to deeper problems such as negative emotions like fear, anger, and sadness.
Negative emotions can be held in the body, including being stored in the muscles. Holding emotions in the body generates stress on the muscles as they tighten. Essential oil products like PanAway® essential oil blend and Ortho Ease Massage Oil are natural ways to release unwanted emotions from muscles. Here are a few easy steps to help release unwanted emotions using PanAway and Ortho Ease:
1. Use a drop of PanAway over the heart to assist the pain or discomfort that might be held in the heart from negative emotions.
2. PanAway taken internally will help release the emotional part of the pain.
3. PanAway may also be applied topically over aches and pains to release unwanted emotions stored in the affected area of the body. It also nourishes and supports the muscles.
4. Ortho Ease is great to use as a massage oil to help relieve muscle pain that may be a result of holding in negative emotions. The essential oils in Ortho Ease nourish the muscles and assist in releasing emotions.
Next time you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, stop and take some time for yourself. Indulge in a nice massage or use these helpful stress management tools, and don’t forget to let PanAway and Ortho Ease transform you!
Peace be with you,

The Importance of Whole-Food Nutrition

The Importance of Whole-Food Nutrition

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

I’m currently in North Carolina preparing for tonight’s NingXia Red Tour meeting. It has been a fantastic experience to meet our distributors, discuss NingXia Red, and answer questions about Young Living’s other great nutritional products. I enjoy your energy, ideas, and questions. Keep them coming!

Last night in Richmond, Virginia, a distributor asked me why Young Living focuses on whole-food nutrition and questioned why we spend so much time talking about it. I thought I’d share some of that discussion with you.

What Is Young Living Therapeutic Grade?

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

I recently sent out an online survey through e-Newsletter asking distributors what they know about therapeutic-grade quality essential oils. Thank you for all your responses! Interestingly, the answers submitted were generally about the quality of essential oils, but the majority of responses did not clearly define “therapeutic grade.”

When describing therapeutic-grade essential oils to someone else, it’s important to relay that every essential oil Young Living distills or sources has the highest naturally-occurring blend of constituents to maximize the desired effect.

Treating Your Skin From the Inside Out! Part II

Treating Your Skin From the Inside Out! Part II
Monday, January 25th, 2010
Young Living has a great selection of natural skincare products that will help invigorate your complexion. Products like our ART® Skin Care System and Satin Facial Scrub™ Mint are free from harmful chemicals and reap health benefits that go way beyond just skin deep.

To complement your skincare regimen, make sure you are giving your skin the nutrients it needs. Here are some additional foods that will help you treat your skin the right way:
 » Safflower Oil

Safflower oil is rich in omega-6 fatty acids, which can provide the ultimate moisture treatment for painfully dry and flaky skin. They keep the cell walls supple, allowing water to better penetrate the skin. If you have excessively dry skin, shoot for an amount that gives you 5–10 percent of your daily calories.

Possible substitute: Cooking oils like borage, soybean, or corn oil.
 » Spinach

It’s thought that the folate in spinach may help and repair DNA, bolstering cells’ ability to renew themselves. The water in spinach also penetrates cell membranes, which makes for plumper, more resilient, and less wrinkled skin. Definitely an extra reason to follow Popeye’s lead!

Possible substitution: Collard greens.
 » Sweet Potatoes

This vegetable packs a big vitamin C punch, which is essential for collagen production. The more collagen in your skin, the better and less wrinkled it looks. Consuming the vitamin C in just half a sweet tater a day could significantly decrease the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Possible substitution: Carrots (1 large or 16 baby), orange juice (6 ounces).
 » Tomatoes

Lycopene, the phytochemical that makes tomatoes red, helps eliminate skin-aging free radicals caused by UV rays. Your body gains the most sun shielding benefits when the vegetable is heated. Just a half a cup of cooked tomatoes or pasta sauce has 16 milligrams of lycopene; along with the ample amount of sunscreen, this daily dose will help keep your skin out of the red. Spaghetti anyone?

Which Eucalyptus Essential Oil is Best?

Which Eucalyptus Essential Oil is Best?

With such a large selection of great eucalyptus products offered by Young
Living, it can be confusing to know which one is best for you. But once you
understand more about the unique properties of each eucalyptus essential oil,
you’ll have no problem picking one that fits your specific needs.

Let’s start with a brief history lesson: For centuries, native Australian
aborigines traditionally used eucalyptus for body pains, sinus congestion,
fever, and colds. It wasn’t until the mid 1800s that English doctors started
experimenting with the oil and shared it with the rest of the world. Not
surprisingly, most eucalyptus species are found in Australia. Have you heard
of the famous “blue mists” in Australia? It happens because the eucalyptus sap
exudes from the trees and wisps into the air, creating a hazy blue mist seen
for miles around. Historically, it is said the blue mist keeps down fevers in
nearby communities. A recent study might suggest that is wasn’t the eucalyptus
that took down the fever, but inhibited the fever-carrying mosquitoes in the
area.[1] Now that’s what I call an essential oil diffuser!

So what makes eucalyptus essential oil work? Each eucalyptus species has its
own unique combination of naturally-occurring plant chemicals, which are what
produce an effect on the body. One of the major active ingredient in most
eucalyptus species is eucalyptol (also called 1,8 cineole). Scientists are
only beginning to validate the many positive effects of this constituent. In
one study using rats, researchers saw significant anti-inflammatory effects in
the gut in rats.[2] Another laboratory experiment looked at the reduction
effects of eucalyptus essential oils on specific respiratory pathogens.[3]

Of the five eucalyptus essential oils Young Living offers, the most popular
are Eucalyptus globulus and Eucalyptus radiata. These two oils smell most like
traditional eucalyptus oils (kind of like the vapor rub my mom lathered on my
chest when I was kid). These oils also have a high percentage of 1,8 cineole:
E. globulus has up to 80 percent eucalyptol and E. radiata can contain up to
75 percent of that active ingredient.

When speaking about eucalyptus options, I always suggest Eucalyptus
polybractea as well. E. polybactea has high levels of 1,8 cineole and has the
comforting medicinal scent one might expect from a eucalyptus product. It also
is low in a compound called isovaleric aldehyde, which can irritate mucus
membranes.

Interestingly, Eucalyptus dives has large amounts of eucalyptol and also high
amounts of piperitone, which gives it a slight pepperminty and citrus scent.
E. dives is excellent for use in a Young Living diffuser to purify the air. E.
dives is considered the strongest of the eucalyptus species and generally
should not be applied to those with skin sensitivities.

Lastly, Gary Young rediscovered a eucalyptus species in Ecuador he named
Eucalyptus Blue.™ Eucalyptus Blue has significant amounts of eucalyptol plus
high levels of alpha pinene. In fact, because of its levels of alpha-pinene,
Eucalyptus Blue can be considered a natural R.C. blend. So, if you are looking
for an R.C. alternative, Eucalyptus Blue is a great choice.

Eucalyptus Blue is my favorite eucalyptus because of its deep, warm aroma. I
also like it because it doesn’t make my eyes water as much as some of the
other eucalyptus oils (think of when you get peppermint close to your eyes).

As general guidelines, Eucalyptus globulus and E. dives are best applied
topically or on the reflex points of the feet while Eucalyptus radiata, E.
polybractea, and Eucalyptus Blue are more suitable for diffusing and
inhalation.

If you still can’t decide which eucalyptus to try, a great place to start is
with our Breathe Again™ Essential Oil Roll-On. This convenient product has a
powerful punch of four eucalyptus essential oils (including Eucalyptus Blue)—
perfect for supporting respiratory health and invigorating the senses.

Which eucalyptus essential oil is your favorite? Share how you use eucalyptus
in the blog’s comments section.

RutaVaLa Roll-On: Targeted Stress Therapy

RutaVaLa Roll-On: Targeted Stress Therapy

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

Have you picked up your free RutaVaLa™ Roll-On this month as part of the PV promotion? This roll-on certainly has a unique smell thanks to the blend of ruta and valerian smoothed out with lavender. Don’t let the unexpected pungent aroma turn you away; RutaVaLa Roll-On is an amazing tool to ease pressures on the body and in the mind.

This unique essential oil product was formulated by Gary Young to help target tense areas for a focused application. The stainless-steel roll-on ball—combined with the blend of authentic essential oils—helps pinpoint muscles to release muscle pressure and overcome negative feelings.

I recently an had incredible experience with RutaVaLa Roll-On. I wrecked on my bike when a car pulled out in front of me. The pain was intense; my head hurt and I had a cracked rib. When I got home, I hurt so badly I began to suffer emotionally. I applied RutaVaLa on my ribs and experienced a great deal of emotional relief—so much so, I was able to relax and get some sleep to help my body heal. Later, whenever emotional discomfort and stress arose because of my injuries, I quickly applied RutaVaLa Roll-On for quick relief.

As you practice using RutaVaLa Roll-On, you’ll quickly find that your usual pressure triggers will begin to fade away. The negative energy that once stored inside of your body will begin to release, giving you and your family more peace in the home. You are going to love yourself even more as you use RutaVaLa Roll-On!

Peace be with you,

Kay Lynne
